At last!…
Oscar Night is over!
(Those Green Chariots and all!)
Where Huge Egos flash 'n' glitter,
And Pretenders have a ball.
"Color Envy" there's in fashion…
Self-Absorption?…..Center Stage!
Chasing Fame's the main attraction…
It's The Wisdom of The Age.
Narcissism finds its venue
In this Pompous Circumstance;
Watch the Blue-Green Silver Screeners
Chasing Gold through Song and Dance.
Yes, we see the "Look-at-Me!" crowd,
Make-Believe's well-painted best,
Utter deeply held convictions…
("Note my fine uplifted breast!")
Follow them to darkened chambers…
Sacred Temples at The Mall.
Pop-Corn Priests of High Delusion
Underscoring mankind's Fall.
*****
Ahhh…The Caravans of Tema*
Travel through this wilderness…
Dashing proud Oasis Seekers,
And Pied-Pipers of The West.
*********
* "The caravans of Tema look for
water,
The travelling merchants of Sheba
look in hope.
They are distressed because they had
been confident;
They arrive there, only to be disappointed.
Now you too have proved to be no help…"
(Job: 6:19)
[The Hebrew the word 'tema' infers a position of power and strength. In this verse above, Job is addressing his friend, Eliphaz, a name that in the Hebrew means "The God of Gold".]
