Senate Democrats seem determined to find a way to re-impose the so-called (
Fairness Doctrine. Last night they beat back an attempt by Republicans to preserve constitutionally protected freedom of speech and the press as they rejected a proposed anti-Fairness Doctrine amendment to education legislation. A former chairman of the FCC said revival of the Fairness Doctrine is "unacceptable." He went on, "The electronic press that uses electrons and airwaves should be as free as the press that uses ink and paper, period."
Liberty Letters Comment: Contact your congressmen and turn up the heat against the Fairness Doctrine, or anything like unto it.
